The Birthstone for August, Peridots are considered to be one of the oldest gemstones in the world.
A perfect summer gem due to their vivid lime green color, Peridots are known as the ‘Evening Emerald’ because of how they shine at night and glow in artificial light. Usually mistaken as emerald, legend has it that Cleopatra’s collection of Emerald jewelry were in fact Peridots.
Their popularity grew in mid 1800s during the Victorian & Edwardian era. Known for their talismanic properties, Peridots are associated with harmony & peace.
